Modified Partial-Shading-Tolerant Multi-Input-Single-Output Photovoltaic String Converter

Photovoltaic (PV) energy systems rapidly penetrate global renewable market recently due to their direct conversion, environmental friendly and modularity features. Partial shading irradiance mismatch create one of the major challenges that face commercial PV converters. Software based maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithms show limited performance as only peak attached string can be captured. On contrary, modified converters achieve true MPP acquisition, hence maximizing system yield enhance overall performance. In this article, a partial-shading-tolerant is proposed feature (i) multi-input multi-output (MISO) converter (ii) seeking event-driven MPPT technique well. The presented single inductor buck configuration with ports N number panels offering reduced passive components extended in addition digital controller implementation. exhibits decoupled each connected panel independently irrespective other even under extreme inhomogeneous distribution. Rigorous simulation results accompanying matched experimental validation assure applicability. Dynamic modelling, various operating conditions assessments, verify claimed effectiveness system.
